Imphal: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) on Monday strongly criticised the response of the state and central governments to the killing of six Naga civilians, alleging a lack of progress in the investigation more than a month after the incident and demanding immediate action to bring those responsible to justice.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, ANSAM president Th. Anteshang Maring said the association remains deeply concerned over the fate of the six civilians who were allegedly abducted and later killed by suspected Kuki armed militants belonging to the KNA(P) group. He noted that more than a month has passed since the incident, yet there has been no visible breakthrough in the case.

Maring questioned the effectiveness of the authorities’ response, stating that no suspects have been publicly identified or held accountable despite the seriousness of the allegations. He said the continued absence of justice has intensified the grief and frustration of the bereaved families.

The student body further pointed out that the bodies of the six victims are still lying in a mortuary, a situation it described as painful and emotionally taxing for their relatives and the wider Naga community.

According to ANSAM, family members had reportedly submitted details of individuals suspected to be involved in the abduction. However, the organisation alleged that neither the Government of Manipur nor the Government of India has taken adequate steps against those named in connection with the case.

The association also raised concerns over the treatment of three injured Kuki individuals who were brought to Imphal following a firing incident at Lailon Vaiphei. ANSAM questioned the government’s handling of the matter, claiming the individuals were armed militants injured during the confrontation.

Calling for urgent intervention, the organisation urged both governments to demonstrate their commitment to justice by ensuring a fair and transparent investigation. ANSAM warned that it may intensify its course of action if meaningful progress is not made in addressing the concerns surrounding the killings.
