North Lakhimpur: Five persons from the same village in Assam’s Lakhimpur district were killed in a road accident in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday morning.

The tragedy occurred along National Highway-13 near Tatatara village under Seppa Circle in Arunachal Pradeshโ€™s East Kameng district when an SUV plunged into a deep gorge near the Pagaso stream.

Four persons were killed instantly, while another died while being rushed to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Bulbul Ali, Noor Hussain, Abul Hussain, Amzad Ali and Saidul Islam of Bhorolua village in Nowboicha, Lakhimpur district.

The victims were all businessmen and were going to Seppa market from Nowboicha when the mishap occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle lost control and veered off the highway in rainy conditions before falling into the gorge.

Local residents and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
