Dimapur: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Saturday stated that the state had 70,469 registered unemployed job seekers as of February this year.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Kohima Job Fair 2026 held at Don Bosco College, Kohima, Yadav highlighted the prevailing employment scenario in the state and stressed the need for enhanced collaboration among government departments, educational institutions, industries and social organizations to build sustainable pathways for jobs and livelihoods.

The job fair witnessed participation from over 25 companies across multiple sectors and more than 500 job seekers, reflecting both the aspirations of Nagalandโ€™s youth and the commitment of employers toward talent development and employment generation.

Yadav emphasised the importance of collective efforts in addressing unemployment challenges and creating meaningful opportunities for young people in the state. He also appreciated the role of the Don Bosco Job Placement Network, which became the first NGO in India to be registered on the National Career Service portal as a placement network under the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Over the past seven years, the network has helped facilitate employment for more than 40,000 youths across the country through career guidance, skill development, and job placement services.

Expressing gratitude to participating companies, the Governor said their involvement reflected confidence in the potential of Nagalandโ€™s youth and contributed to both state and national economic growth. He also thanked organisers, partners, employers, and volunteers for the successful conduct of the job fair.
