Dimapur: Nagaland’s Mokokchung district administration on Friday officially launched the District Action Plan for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Campaign 2026, in a major push to create a drug-free society.
The localised initiative aligns with the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowermentโs nationwide mandate to eradicate substance abuse at the grassroots level.
To tackle the crisis, the districtโs comprehensive action plan will follow a four-pronged approach.
These include a supply-curbing strategy to choke illicit drug trafficking networks, a demand-reduction strategy to address and systematically lower dependency, outreach and awareness programmes to educate vulnerable groups, and monitoring and documentation mechanisms to ensure accountability and track progress.
District officers and civil society organisations have been assigned specific, time-bound responsibilities.
These stakeholders will work in coordination to dismantle substance abuse networks and promote a healthier, drug-free community across the district.
