Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has strongly opposed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state, calling it unacceptable under current conditions and raising concerns over fairness, inclusivity, and administrative accountability.

In a statement issued recently, the apex Kuki civil body expressed deep concern over the fate of approximately 59,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Kuki-Zo community.

The organization noted that these individuals remain displaced from their homes and are currently unable to participate in the critical administrative and electoral revision.

“Proceeding with such a critical electoral and administrative exercise without ensuring the participation of a large and vulnerable section of the population undermines the very principles of democratic representation,” the KIM statement read.

The organization maintained that excluding these displaced citizens, whether directly or indirectly, makes the entire SIR process incomplete.

Demanding immediate intervention, the student body and community leaders urged the state government and respective district administrations to implement concrete, accessible, and inclusive mechanisms.

They asserted that proper arrangements must be established to ensure all affected IDPs are duly enrolled and integrated into the revision process.

The KIM warned that continuing the Special Intensive Revision without these vital provisions would call into question the legitimacy and credibility of the entire exercise.

The apex body concluded by urging the concerned authorities to take swift action so that no displaced person is left out of the electoral process.
