Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Trade and Commerce Minister Nyato Dukam on Wednesday said the state government was working towards operationalising the Indo-Myanmar border trade route and related port facilities within the next three years.

Dukam made the remarks during a visit to the Land Customs Station (LCS) near Hellgate Bridge, where he reviewed existing infrastructure and assessed prospects for the development of border trade in the region.

The minister was accompanied by MLA Laisam Simai and other officials as part of an official tour along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The delegation also visited the Border Haat at Pangsau Pass, considered an important point for promoting cross-border trade and regional cooperation.

Officials said the proposed activation of the trade corridor is expected to improve connectivity and generate employment opportunities in border areas of Arunachal Pradesh.

The initiative has also raised expectations among local residents and traders, many of whom believe strengthened border trade could accelerate economic activity and create new avenues for regional development.

According to officials, the project is expected to enhance commercial ties and boost economic engagement along the India-Myanmar border.
