Manipur Tribal Market
The event was organised by the Nashira Area Peopleโ€™s Organisation (NAPO), which undertook the construction of the market under the 4th State Finance Commission through the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Ukhrul.

Imphal: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho on August 20 inaugurated the newly constructed Tribal Market at Mayophung village in Ukhrul district along National Highway 202 (Imphal-Ukhrul road).

The event was organised by the Nashira Area Peopleโ€™s Organisation (NAPO), which undertook the construction of the market under the 4th State Finance Commission through the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Ukhrul.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dikho said the Tribal Market would create economic opportunities for local farmers and support their livelihoods.

He said its location along the National Highway would make it accessible not only to people from the Mayophung area but also to travellers from Imphal and other places, allowing them to purchase local produce.

He said the market would help boost local production and contribute to making the state self-reliant. Dikho also assured that the State Environment Department would provide necessary assistance for the beautification of the market and its surroundings.

Representatives of NAPO submitted a memorandum to Dikho seeking the construction of an Ava Market (New) Tribal Market shed, a public sanitation facility and a borewell at the NAPO headquarters in Mayophung, Ukhrul. Dikho assured them of necessary support.

Members of the All Foothills Tribal Auto Association, Yaingangpokpi, Ukhrul district, also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister during the programme.

Khashim Vashum, MLA of the 45-Chingai (ST) Assembly Constituency; Leishiyo Keishing, MLA of the 43-Phungyar (ST) Assembly Constituency; Ram Muivah, MLA of the 44-Ukhrul (ST) Assembly Constituency; Ngaranmi Kasar, convenor of NAPO; and Rev. Samuel Zimk, pastor of Ngarumphung B/C, were among those present at the event.
