Manipur Police arrested 12 curfew violators in Thoubal district for disrupting public order.

Imphal: Manipur Police arrested 12 curfew violators in Thoubal for disturbing public order and ordered them to perform one week of community service. In a separate incident, two individuals were arrested for violent acts at Koirengei.

The state has imposed strict night curfews in six districts under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Manipur Police arrested 12 curfew violators in Thoubal district for disrupting public order. On the order of the Magistrate, they were directed to perform one week of community service and have been engaged in cleaning the Khongjom War Memorial site following Thursdayโ€™s state function.

Police also arrested two individuals for violence at Koirengei crossing (NH-02) in Imphal East district, where they burned debris and attacked security forces with stones and slingshots.

The arrested persons have been identified as Thoudam Gojendro Singh and Pukhrambam Imo Chinglemba, both residents of Tingri Makha Leikai in Imphal West district.

The Manipur government has imposed night curfews in six districts, Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi, under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, to maintain law and order.
