Imphal: Security forces arrested five alleged active members of the proscribed Peopleโs Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro) during separate operations across Manipur, according to a bulletin issued by Manipur Police on Saturday. A quantity of arms and ammunition was also recovered from different locations.
In one operation, Oinam Dhananjoy Singh, 36, a resident of Liwa Road, Maibam Leikai in Imphal West, was arrested from the Khuman Lampak area under Imphal Police Station. A mobile phone was seized from him. In another operation, Thokchom Rabichandra Singh, 36, of Heirok Part-II, Bazar Laikol Leirak in Thoubal district, was apprehended from his residence.
Khuraijam Rojitkumar Singh, 37, of Thongju Part-II Makha Leikai in Imphal East, was arrested in the Singjamei police station area. Kshetrimayum Laiba Meitei, 42, of Lamdeng Khunou in Imphal West, was taken into custody during a raid under Lamsang Police Station. A mobile phone and an identity card were recovered from him.
Police also reported the arrest of Thokchom Raj Singh, 25, alias Ibungo, of Wangjing Lamding Thokchom Leikai in Thoubal district. He was detained from the Ghari area under Lamphel Police Station on February 26, 2026, and a mobile phone and Aadhaar card were seized. In a statement issued by its Assistant Publicity Secretary, L Ningshingba, PREPAK-Pro denied that Singh is associated with the organisation or its armed wing.
In a separate operation, security forces recovered arms and ammunition from the forest area of Thinghijang village in Churachandpur district. The items included one AK-47 rifle with a magazine, three single-barrel guns, one bolt-action single-barrel gun, one bolt-action sniper rifle with a scope, seven fired cases of 7.62 mm ammunition and two SLR magazines.
During a follow-up operation at Sangaithel Makha Leikai under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West, security personnel recovered one modified .303 rifle without a magazine, two locally made bolt-action single-barrel guns, four pistols with magazines, two No. 36 HE grenades without detonators, one HE bomb, 15 rounds of .303 ammunition with three charger clips, eight .303 blank cartridges, one SLR blank cartridge, one bulletproof vest with two iron plates, two camouflage helmets and three bags.
Further investigation is in progress, police said.
