Manipur police arrest
Jany Kangjam (23) and Chanambam Henba Singh (21), active KCP cadres from Imphal West, were arrested in separate Lamphel-PS operations.

Imphal: Central security forces and Manipur police arrested three activists of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and three drug peddlers during ongoing anti-narcotics and counter-insurgency operations conducted at different locations over the past 36 hours, officials reported on Sunday.

In the first operation, Jany Kangjam alias Japan (23) of Takyel Khongbal, Lane No. 21, Lamphel-PS, Imphal West, an active KCP (PSC) cadre, was arrested from his residence. Another KCP cadre, Chanambam Henba Singh alias Lanchenba (21) of Iroisemba Mang Hiden, Lane No. 10, Imphal West, was apprehended from the Tera Lukram Leirak area under Lamphel-PS.

During a third operation in the Minuthong area under Imphal-PS, Imphal West, Puyam Sindur Singh alias Chalamba (43) of Moirangkhunou Maning Leikai, Bishnupur, currently staying at Langol Ningthou Leikai, was arrested.

Meanwhile, two drug peddlers, Rahish Khan (22) and Mustakim Ahamad (23), both residents of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai, Kakching district, were arrested with 660 grams of brown sugar (a heroin derivative) and a vehicle at the T. Khullen Naka Check Post under Senapati-PS, Senapati district.

In the last operation, Mohammad Warish Khan (28) of Khomidok Masjid Maning, Imphal East district, was arrested with 550 grams of WY tablets and a two-wheeler.

Officials added that all the arrestees, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the relevant police stations for further legal proceedings.
