Imphal: The Special Court, National Investigation Agency (NIA) Manipur Number 1, on Thursday, took cognizance of the charge sheet against three accused in the Jiribam massacre case.
The accused were produced via video conferencing from the Temporary Jail, Jiribam, and the charge sheet was submitted against them by the NIA Imphal Branch.
During the judicial proceedings, the Court also directed the NIA to furnish the relevant papers of the charge sheet to the accused persons before February 10, 2026.
The incident involved the abduction and brutal murder of three women and three children belonging to the Meitei community by Kuki-Hmar militants in November 2024.
The accused are charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P)A) for their roles in the conspiracy and execution of the murders.
In the charge sheet submitted to the court, it is stated that on November 11, 2024, armed militants attacked a security camp in the Borobekra area of Jiribam district, Manipur, abducting six people.
Their bullet-riddled, mutilated bodies were later discovered in the Barak River near the Manipur-Assam border.
The victims were identified as Yurembam Rani Devi (60) w/o Nabakishore, Telem Thoibi Devi (31) w/o Uttam, Laishram Heitonbi (25) w/o Herojit, Telem Thajamanbi (8) d/o Uttam, Laishram Chingkheinganba (2) s/o Herojit, and Laishram Langamba (8 months) s/o Herojit.
Following complaints and protests from various quarters, the concerned authorities arrested the alleged accused.
Thanglienlal Hmar alias Boya (40), a resident of Moinathol village, Dilkhosh Grant, Cachar, Assam, who was said to be a key conspirator of the brutal massacre, was arrested by a joint team of NIA and Assam Police on July 31, 2025.
In a follow-up action, two more accused, Lalrosang Hmar alias Rosang (24) and Khopuimoi Hmar alias Puia (33), were arrested.
After a thorough investigation, the NIA submitted a charge sheet before the Court on January 23, 2026.
