Her selection is seen as a breakthrough for the region and an inspiration for aspiring youths.

Digboi: Violina Borah, a resident of Kujupathar in the Pengareeโ€“Bordumsa area of Tinsukia district near the Assamโ€“Arunachal Pradesh border, has been selected for the post of Scientific Officer through the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), showcasing her academic excellence.

According to an official notification issued by the Assam Public Service Commission, Jawaharnagar, Khanapara, Guwahati (Notification No. 263PSC/CON/Exam-30/2024-2025, dated January 7, 2026), the Commission declared the results for the recruitment of Scientific Officer under the Directorate of Forensic Science, Assam, on Wednesday.

Borah has been recommended in order of merit for appointment as Scientific Officer (Toxicology Division) at the Directorate of Forensic Science, Guwahati, against a reserved vacancy under the ST (Plain) category.

The interviews for the specialised posts were conducted by the Commission on the day of result declaration in the presence of subject experts deputed by the Government of Assam.

Daughter of Pavitra Borah, an employee of Indian Oil Corporation, Violinaโ€™s success is especially significant as she comes from a geographically remote, border-adjacent area with limited access to advanced educational infrastructure.

Her selection is seen as a breakthrough for the region and an inspiration for aspiring youths.

The achievement has been acknowledged across the Pengareeโ€“Bordumsa belt, with various socio-cultural organisations extending congratulations.

Several organisations have also announced plans to organise an elaborate felicitation programme to formally honour her accomplishment and recognise her talent, aiming to inspire future generations to pursue excellence through education and perseverance.

Local residents, educators, and community leaders have described Violina Borahโ€™s selection as a notable milestone and acknowledged its significance for the region.
