Guwahati: A newly constructed stretch of road constructed in the National Highway has collapsed from Tulungia to Jogighopa in Bongaigaon district.
Numerous portions of the road had collapsed due to the heavy rainfall that had been going on since the last few days. The road has witnessed damage in the highway of Chalantapara in Jogighopa. The incident has posed a severe threat to accidents to the passers-by.
According to reports, the construction of the road is done by the company named RSBI and they have spent money worth Rs 636 crore for the project.
The road constructed under the construction company has complaints of collapse every day.
The locals in the area are venting out their anger for such failures of the state government to provide work to a company who have done substandard work and now the road has numerous cracks and structural damages.
It is also alleged that such a situation has been created due to the use of substandard materials in the construction of the highway and it has left without proper completion.
From time to time the construction team has repaired the damages with temporary fillings of stones and sand.
Such problems in this stretch of the road have been recurring issues and the authorities should take proper steps to ensure that frequent collapses and crumbling road services do not happen in the future.
