Guwahati: The Indian security forces discovered a slew of weapons hidden at a hideout of the armed miscreants operating in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur’s Noney district, an official report said on Tuesday.

Acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Tamlok village under Nungba Police Station in Noney District, the joint team of central and state police discovered the hidden weapons.

The recovery of these weapons was the first time in this hill district since the eruption of communal violence between the Kukis and Meiteis that started on May 3, 2023, in the state.

The operations that were launched on Sunday successfully yielded the recovery of two Carbine Machine Gun with 02 Magazine, two 9 mm Pistol with Magazine, three 32 mm Pistol with Magazines, one Revolver, one Chinese Hand Grenade, one Vintage Grenade based IED with IED-making materials., one Detonator, twelve live rounds, one Communication Radio set.

However, no arrest has been made in the operations.

The seized weapons were handed over to the Noney police station for further legal actions, the reports added.
