Manipur Chief Engineer’s residence attacked with grenades, police investigates.

Imphal: The residence of a Chief Engineer from the Department of Education (Engineering Cell), Government of Manipur was attacked with bombs that exploded on Monday night, official reports said on Tuesday.

Two successive grenades blasted the residential area of Sagolband Nepram Menjor Mamang Leikai, under the Imphal West district at around 11:50 pm on Monday.

Unknown miscreants have lobbed two grenades inside the residential complex of Laishram Sarat Singh, 58, the Chief Engineer, Department of Education (Engineering Cell), Government of Manipur.

The blasts have caused damage to an Eco van parked inside the residential complex.

The cause of the attack is immediately yet to be established.

No one or outfit so far has claimed responsibility for the blasts.

On receiving the report, two teams of Manipur police from the Imphal West district police commando and the Manipur police bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the scene.

Later they retrieved the exploded materials, the police said.

A case was also registered in this connection.
