A one day job fair for job aspirants of Upper Assam region was organized by the Training & Placement Cell of UGC Deen Dayal Upadhyay KAUSHAL Kendra, Tengakhat College in association with BSA Skills Corporation Ltd.

The fair was organized on Thursday at Tengakhat Campus.

Representatives of various MNCs took part in the job fair to pick out students from college campus.

In the inaugural session a MoU between Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra and BSA Skills Corporation have been signed to provide 100 per cent placement for all those who pass from UGC DDU Kaushal Kendra in various trades.

Freshers and experienced professionals in the age group of 18 to 26 participated in the fair. Most of the companies hailed from Maharashtra and Gujarat who wanted to pick people for their newly opened production units.

Students from Dibrugarh, Sivasagar and Jorhat appeared in the interviews and personality tests in the college. Overall the vacancies found were about 500.

Talking about the event, Director of the Training & Placement Cell  Radheesh Gopalan said “Most of the candidates are not aware about the opportunities hence they are confused about finding the right job because of lack of knowledge about them.” He admitted that employment is an issue for every student but the problem is just the channel.

112 students were selected out of 354 candidates for placement in Tata Motors, Bajaj Automobile, JCB India, Piaggio and Hyundai.

“There are companies who are looking for candidates with skills, but they are unable to reach them because none of them have vacancies in Assam.” Gopalan said. He explained that the job fair was aimed at providing opportunities to qualified candidates belonging to rural areas.
