Imphal: In consideration of the present situation in Manipur, the State Education Department has informed all concerned that admission to government/government-aided colleges for the academic year 2023-24 in Manipur is permitted provisionally without the requirement of a transfer certificate, migration certificate, or other such documents that are not currently available with the students.
H Gyan Prakash, Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Manipur, stated in a notification issued on Wednesday that the required documents may be produced/submitted to the concerned schools/colleges within a stipulated time to be fixed by the respective colleges.
The latest notification was made in response to the demands of the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM), the students’ body representing the Nagas and the Kukis in the state.
The ATSUM appealed to all concerned parties to address the grievances of the student community in light of the prevailing situation in the State.

In a press release issued by the Department of Information and Publicity, ATSUM on July 17, immediate attention of the State Administration, authorities concerned, and educational institutions was sought to address the grievances of the students by facilitating a one-time exemption of admission fees, transfer of students’ names from one school to another in BOSEM/COHSEM, and transfer from State board to Central board and vice-versa.
The ATSUM also appealed to all to ‘stop this madness of violence and give humanity a chance to prevail.’
Amidst the ongoing communal violence, over 150 individuals have lost their lives, and approximately 60,000 people, including students, are taking shelter at different relief camps across the state.
