Taking a step further in its unwavering commitment to serve the nation, the Army on Wednesday organized a Blood Donation Camp on the occasion of World Red Cross Day and Thalassemia Day in association with Mangaldai Civil Hospital Blood Bank authority and District Health Department at Army Camp, Golandi in Udalguri district.
Army personnel and civilians participated actively with zeal in the blood donation camp.
Sixty-five number of blood units were collected and donated to the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital Blood Bank in a goodwill gesture of humanity, which promotes fraternity, unity and brotherhood.
Sub Divisional Medical & Health Officer of Darrang district, Dr N K Beria was also present during the camp.
An awareness on voluntary blood donation cum organ donation among the jawans also done.
The civil administration expressed their gratitude and appreciated the efforts of the Army for taking such an initiative for assisting the medical authority, as it’s difficult to get blood donors in the remote areas of Udalguri and Darrang districts.
Such efforts will definitely spread the positive message among the local people and will further strengthen the relationship between Army, civil administration and local populace, the organizers felt.
