Maibam Chingkheinganba of Manipur has been selected by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation for participation in the 18th Asian Games 2018 to be held at Jakarta- Palembang, Indonesia,

The games will be held from August 18 to September 2. Maibam Pempa Bhutai from Sikkim has also been selected in the men’s category.

The Indian climbers will compete in the event of speed, speed relay and both speed and speed relay combined; the latter comprising of boudlering, lead and speed. Chingkheinganba will compete in the combined event only and is on the reserve climbers ‘ list for speed relay. This is the first time that sports climbing category has been introduced in Asian Games.

Chingkheinganba is the lone climber from the Northeast to get selected for the Asian Games.

Chingkheinganba hopes to win gold in Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
