Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupen Borah on Sunday said that if Raha MLA Sashi Kanta Das accepts his mistake, the party will not even wait for a second to welcome him back to the party.
Speaking to the media, Borah said Das had made a mistake, and everyone knows it. “He just has to accept the mistake and apologize for it”, he added.
Bora said that Das is not removed from the party, he is just suspended for his anti-party activities.
He added, “I have had discussions with him regarding this. His statements reveal that the BJP was trying to buy him and the entire place seems to be driven by the Chief Minister himself.”

Borah alleged that statements made by Das make it clear that the current government does not take development projects in constituencies where there is a Congress MLA.
“This may be the reason why Das was supporting the BJP on a public platform. His statements also were critical about the BJP’s policies at the same time”, he added.
He claimed that Congress will not even wait for a second to revoke Das’s suspension if he accepts the mistake.
Das also said that he still thinks that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has done a great job in terms of development.
Sashi Kanta Das was suspended from the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday for his alleged “anti-party activities”.

As per the APCC, Das was suspended on disciplinary grounds with immediate effect.
Earlier on December 20, the APCC had issued a show-cause notice to Das after he had “extended” support to the BJP-led government in the state.
The Assam Congress gave him a 24-hour deadline to MLA Sashi Kanta Das for responding to the show cause notice but he did not respond.
After being suspended, Sashi Kanta Das said that if his suspension is not revoked, then there might be a Congress-free Raha.
Speaking about the suspension, Das said, “It was an unfortunate decision that the party had taken and this needs to be reviewed.”
