Nagaon Police in central Assam arrested 6 persons including a constable on charges of illegal transportation of cattle.
The operation was carried out by Nagaon Police on Sunday.
According to reports, the cattle-laden trucks and the car were seized by the police at Boghat in the district.
Nagaon Police in a tweet informed that a constable, who was involved in facilitating the transportation, has been arrested.
Nagaon Police said a Home Guard, who was also involved in the act but is currently absconding, will be arrested soon.
Informing about the seizure and the arrest of the persons involved in the illegal transportation, Nagaon Police tweeted: “6 Arrested for illegal Cattle Transportation, seized 2 Trucks, 1 car, 42 Cattle and ?34,560. In follow up, 1 Constable and 1 Home Guard found facilitating such consignments. Constable Arrested, HG absconding but will be caught soon.”
Nagaon Police under the leadership of superintendent of police Anand Mishra continues to carry out operations against cattle syndicates and smuggling in the district.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jan Bora, Mustafa Ahmed, Rutam Ali, Bhrigu Bailung and Ajibur Rahman.

The registration numbers of the trucks and the car, seized by the police, are AS-01-NC-1843, AS-01-LC-5157 and AS-02-Z-6111. respectively.
The cattle heads were being carried in the two trucks from Rajmai market in Sivasagar district, said reports.
