The Centre, on Tuesday, said that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved since August 2019.
“Security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved significantly since August 2019 and there has been a significant decline in terrorist incidents,” minister of state for home Nityanand Rai said in a written reply in Parliament.

This statement from the Centre came just a day after terrorists attacked a police bus in Srinagar killing three policemen.
11 other policemen also sustained injuries in the attack.

Meanwhile, Kashmir police chief Vijay Kumar, on Tuesday, said that the attack on the police bus in Srinagar on Monday evening was pre-planned.
Kashmir Tigers, an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), carried out the attack.
“It was a planned attack by two foreign terrorists and one local terrorist. Three police personnel have lost their lives in this attack,” Kashmir police chief Vijay Kumar said.
A bus, carrying 25 police personnel, came under fire from terrorists in Zewan in the Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar on Monday evening.

On December 10, two policemen were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The two policemen were martyred after terrorists fired upon at a police party in Gulshan Chowk area of Bandipora district.
