Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha has appealed to the people of the district to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja in a peaceful manner.
A meeting was held recently at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall in Dibrugarh under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha in presence of superintendent of police Shwetank Mishra.
In view of the recent Covid19 situation, devotees in the Dibrugarh district have been urged to perform the Chhath Puja at their respective homes instead of at the puja ghats.

The Dibrugarh deputy commissioner sought the cooperation of all concerned for a peaceful celebration of the Chhath Puja.
The meeting was also attended by all the circle officers of the district as well as the representatives of various Chhath Puja Celebration Committees.

Meanwhile, the Chhath Puja Committees have not issued any guidelines till now for the devotees.
Chhath Puja is usually performed in ghats.
Due to the rising water level of river Brahmaputra, it would be difficult for the devotees to perform puja at ghats.
Last year, due to Covid19 pandemic, Chhath Puja was performed in homes by the devotees.
This year also, the same direction has been given by the district administration.
