The Nagaland government is eyeing for 100 percent literacy in the state by the year 2030.
The Nagaland government is planning to achieve this feat by further strengthening the anganwadi centres and introducing early childhood education system.
The state government is also planning to improve the education infrastructure.
Currently, the literacy rate in Nagaland stands at 79.55 percent.
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio recently unveiled the “Nagaland SDG Vision 2030 – Leaving no one behind”.
This vision document puts forward strategies – short, medium and long term – to achieve as many as 17 sustainable development goals (SDG), which also includes quality education.

The vision document states that its objective is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all eliminating gender and other disparities at all levels of education.
The Nagaland government further stated that it also plans to enhance vocational training in the state.
The Nagaland school education department has proposed to introduce early childhood education in the next 10 years.
Teachers holding diplomas in early education (D.El.Ed) would be engaged for the early childhood education system.
