Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the 37 Bn SSB personnel nabbed four suspected militants from Tankibasti area under Dimakuchi police station along the Indo-Bhutan border in Assam’s Udalguri district.

The operation was carried out on Friday.

Days after the killing of the district commander of National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) by Udalguri police in an operation at the dense jungles along the Assam-Arunachal border, the security forces have launched a tirade to root out insurgent activities from the Bodo belt.

The security force personnel also recovered three hand-made Single Barrel Breach Loading (SBBL) guns, three mobile phones, a two-wheeler without registration number along with incriminating materials from their possession.

The apprehended suspected militants have been identified as Daimalu Boro, an inhabitant of Gelasuba village, Adulambi Goyari, an resident of Bholatar village, Sukram Boro, a resident of 2 No. Singrimari under Dimakuchi PS and Arup Boro, an inhabitant of Rampur village under Khoirabari PS of Udalguri district.

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel of 37 Battalion handed over the suspected militants along with the recovered guns to the Dimakuchi Police.

“We are investigating the case to find out if they are members of any insurgent group,” said an officer privy to the investigation.
