The Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) on Thursday celebrated ‘National Doctor’s Day’ at several tea estates of Upper Assam.

ACMS celebrated the ‘National Doctor’s Day’ in 22 branches in Upper Assam by felicitating the doctors and health workers for their yeoman service to the public.

ACMS vice president Nabin Keot said, “We celebrated National Doctor’s Day in our 22 branches of Assam. We felicitated the doctors and health workers for their dedicated and selfless service during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.”

The Union celebrated the occasion at the Dikom Tea Estate and felicitated the doctor and health workers there for their immense contribution to the society.

“We have discussed various issues regarding the recent attacks on doctors in tea gardens. We appeal to the tea garden workers not to attack health workers in any circumstance because they save our lives,” Keot said.

Of late there have been several instances of assaults on doctors and health workers in different parts of Assam, due to which most of them have become demoralized to work, especially in rural areas.

Doctors and health workers in tea gardens were mostly attacked by the workers there due to various reasons.

“Assaults on doctors occur due to ignorance on the part of tea gardens workers. We are trying to create awareness among the workers,” said Keot.
