Assam recorded 5,835 new Covid19 positive cases and 73 more deaths in the last 24 hours.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta in a tweet on Tuesday evening said the new cases were confirmed out of 90,251 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
Health minister Mahanta said the overall positivity percentage of the state stood at 6.47% on Tuesday.
Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district alone reported 921 cases.
The state’s Covid19 recovery rate was 85.31% on Tuesday.

On Monday, Assam recorded the highest single-day spike of 92 deaths due to Covid19 infection.
Assam reported a total of 6,394 positive cases on Monday. The cases were confirmed out of 91,481 tests.
The overall positivity percentage in Assam stood at 6.99% on Monday and of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district reported 1,100 cases.

Meanwhile, health minister Mahanta, who is currently in Barak Valley visit, on Tuesday inspected the Oxygen plant site and ICU beds at the Silchar Medical College & Hospital.
