The Biswanath Police has arrested four persons including a woman and nabbed a child for their involvement in a human tracking case.

The police also safely rescued four children, who became victims of human trafficking, from the clutches of the arrested persons.

The arrested persons have been identified as 20-year-old Ifran Khan, son of Gafar KJhan, a resident of Dakshin Moran Gaon under Behali police station in Biswanath district; 28-year-old Asish Panika alias Babu, son of late Falu Panika, a resident of Mikir Sang (Dufflagarh) under Gohpur PS; 28-year-old Jushna Deori, a resident of Chatrang Nepali Gaon under Gospur PS; 48-year-old Damodar Deori of Chatrang Nepali Gaon.

A 15-year-old child (in conflict with law) was also nabbed by Behali Police in connection with the case.

The operation was carried out by Behali Police under the leadership of circle inspector Resheswar Saikia and officer-in-charge of Behali PS, Kamal Boro as a part of an investigation into a human trafficking case lodged in Behali PS.

“During investigation, it came to light that these accused persons are involved in as many as three children trafficking cases registered in Behali PS,” the Biswanath Police said.

On the basis of their confessions, the police were able to rescue four victim children in the age group of 6 to 9 years from different places of Arunachal Pradesh, the police said.

Of the rescued children, 3 are boys and 1 is girl.

The five persons were arrested on the basis of three cases registered in Behali police station.

A case (no. 22/2021) was registered at Behali police station under section 363 IPC in which sections 370(5)/371/34 IPC were added.

The other cases were Behali PS Case no. 16/ 2021 u/s 144/ 447/341/ 325/326/427/365 IPC and Behali PS case no. 107/ 2020 u/s 363 IPC Added Section Sec 370 (5)/ 371/34 IPC.
