Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh late on Tuesday night held an emergency meeting with his cabinet members, officials of the health department, JNIMS and RIMS hospital.
Biren Singh said that the emergency meeting was convened to discuss the “alarming rise of COVID cases” in the State.
Biren Singh said: “The discussion covered areas such as mechanism to ensure timely admission of patients in hospitals, incentives for doctors and better monitoring of home isolation patients.”
Manipur’s COVID-19 situation continues to be grim as the State on Tuesday logged as many as 20 deaths relating to the deadly disease.
With these 20 new COVID-19 deaths, Manipur’s COVID-19 death tally has crossed the 500-mark and currently stands at 509.

On the other hand, Manipur registered nearly 600 new COVID-19 cases.
As many as 592 new COVID-19 cases have emerged in Manipur.
Of these 592 new cases, 284 are male and 308 are female.
With the detection of these 592 new COVID-19 cases, Manipur’s active cases tally has jumped to 4981.

Of the total 4981 active COVID-19 cases in Manipur, 4803 are from the general public and 178 are from the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces deployed in the State.
Meanwhile, the total COVID–19 cases in Manipur have also risen to 36370.
Meanwhile, as many as 195 persons have also recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Manipur’s COVID-19 recovery rate has further dropped to 84.90%.
