In view of the prevailing Covid19 situation in the state, the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) on Tuesday announced postponement of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination and Assam High Madrassa Examination 2021.

Confirming the decision of the board, a SEBA official told Northeast Now that the HSLC and High Madrassa Examinations, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Assam , have been postponed in view of the Covid19 situation in the state.

The official said the SEBA will hold the examinations when the situation becomes conducive.

The HSLC and Assam High Madrassa Examinations 2021 were scheduled to be held from May 11.

Assam on Monday reported 29 new Covid19 deaths while 4,489 new positive cases.

In an order, SEBA secretary Suranjana Senapati said the revised schedule will be announced by the board after a discussion with the state health department.

The order said: “In view of the prevailing situation of Covid-l9 in the State of Assam, it has been decided to postpone the HSLC/AHM Examination 2021, scheduled to be held from 11th May, 2021. The revised schedule of the said Examination shall be announced shortly after consultation with the Health Department, Govt. of Assam.”

On Monday, the Covid19 deaths were reported from 11 districts of Assam.

Covid19 deaths were reported from the districts of Kamrup-Metro – 13, Dibrugarh – 4, Udalguri –2, Bongaigaon –1, Cachar – 1, Nalbari – 1, Kamrup–Rural – 1, Karimganj – 3, Sonitpur – 1, Tinsukia – 1, Goalpara – 1.

Assam has so far recorded 1,389 Covid19 deaths.

With the detection of the new cases in Assam, the tally of the state’s active cases reached 26,477 on Monday.
