The Kokrajhar district administration and district health department has initiated necessary measures to curb the rapid surge in Covid-19 infection.

Superintendent of Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital AS Sarma stated the number of Covid-19 positive cases is showing a rapid rise in the district

He informed that from just 2 positive cases in March, the number of cases has increased to over 253 in April and the number is increasing each day.

Most patients this time are in the age group of 35 to 60 years.

Screening of passengers at the inter-state border at Srirampur has begun to isolate those infected.

Sarma also said that an additional 50 more beds have been added at Serfanguri, besides the existing facilities at Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital.

Senior officials of the health department have asked all people to adhere to SOPs strictly to curb infections.

Meanwhile, people in good numbers are getting themselves vaccinated.

The number of Covid-19 casualties in Kokrajhar reached three with another 62 years old retired railway employee succumbing to the virus on Monday night.

253 people have tested positive in the district during the second wave, of who 30 are undergoing treatment in different hospital.
