The Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles on Friday conducted a cleanliness drive at Lunglei district in Mizoram.

The drive, ‘Clean Lunglei, Green Lunglei’ was conducted as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

A total of 61 Assam Rifles jawan along with 16 local residents participated in the event.

The participants could be seen cleaning the area surrounding the Lunglei Bridge.

The Assam Rifles jawans also interacted with local residents and the need to segregate and manage the huge wastes that is generated from the residents of people on a daily basis.

Currently, there is no proper waste management plant to segregate and treat wastes in Lunglei.

The Assam Rifles also organized a cleanliness and tree plantation drive in Kohima in Nagaland recently.

School students participated in the drive, during which saplings were planted as part of initiatives to conserve the degrading environment.
