The Assam Rifles unit of Tengnoupal in Manipur has organized as a five-a-side football tournament at the Khongkhang village in Chandel district.
The football tournament that began on Monday, has been organized in keeping with the ‘Khelo India Initiative’ to promote sports and fitness-related activities in the remote parts of the district.
Five-a-side football refers to a variation of association football, in which five players from each team play.

Such a tournament is also played on a smaller pitch and the duration of the game is also less.
A total of 14 local teams will be participating in the five-a-side football tournament organized by Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles organized a “Friendly Volleyball Match” at the battalion’s camp in Mizoram’s Lunglei district on Monday.
A total of 20 local youth of the Parva village participated in the football match.
The volleyball match was organized with an aim to boot the spirit of sportsmanship and choose good sportspersons from among the local youths.
