Congress on Wednesday night announced its third list of 26 candidates for the ensuing Assam Assembly elections 2021.
In the first list, the party announced the names of 40 party candidates and in the second list, Congress announced the names of three candidates.
The three-phase Assam Assembly election 2021 is scheduled to be held on March 27, April 1 and April 6, 2021.
The third list of candidates for the second phase has been released by the in-charge of the central election committee (CEC) of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and party general secretary Mukul Wasnik.

According to the list, Sambhu Sing Mallah has been given party ticket to contest the Ratabari (SC) seat while Sachin Sahoo will contest the Patharkandi Assembly seat. Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha has been given party ticket for Karimganj North.
Suresh Borah has been given Congress ticket to contest for the Barhampur Assembly seat, which has been represented by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader and former two-time Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta for the last six terms.
Mahanta has been denied AGP ticket this time and BJP has fielded Jitu Goswami for the Barhampur seat.
The other candidates and their constituencies are Siddeque Ahmed – Karimganj South, Sanjeev Roy – Katlichera, Tamal Kanti Banik – Silchar, Kamakhya Prasad Mala – Dholai (SC), Ajit Singh – Udharbond, Mukesh Pandey – Lakhipur, Misbahul Islam Laskar – Barkhola, Khalil Uddin Majumdar – Katigora.
Nirmal Langthasa – Haflong (ST), Sanjeeb Teron – Howraghat (ST), Augustine Enghee – Baithalangso, Kishor Kr. Bhattacharya – Kamalpur, Pradyut Kumar Bhuyan – Nalbari, Kuldip Barua – Sipajhar, Basanta Das – Mangaldoi (SC).
Md. Ilias Ali – Dalgaon, Swapan Kumar Mandal – Jagiroad (SC), Dr. Asif Mohd Nazar – Laharighat, Sashi Kanta Das – Raha (SC), Santanu Sarma – Nowgong, Debabrata Saha – Hojai, Swapan Kar – Lumding.
