Dimapur: Four faculty members of Nagaland University have featured in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list prepared by Stanford University researchers.

Three of the university’s faculty members have also been included in the Career-Long Top 2% Scientists list, marking recognition of the institution’s research contributions across diverse scientific disciplines, a university release said on Friday.

The four faculty members recognised in the latest World’s Top 2% Scientists list are Prabhakar Sharma of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Ambrish Singh of the Department of Chemistry, Joginder Singh of the Department of Botany and Pranav Kumar Prabhakar of the Department of Biotechnology.

The recognition of these faculty members reflects the range of research being undertaken at Nagaland University, spanning environmental engineering, groundwater management, electrochemistry, materials science, microbiology, plant sciences and biotechnology.

The Stanford-based World’s Top 2% Scientists database identifies researchers based on a composite citation indicator (c-score), both with and without self-citations, along with percentile-based measures within scientific fields and sub-fields.

Researchers are classified according to the Science-Metrix classification system, which covers 22 broad scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.

The list is intended to provide a standardised view of research impact based on bibliometric data rather than a single measure of academic performance.

Congratulating the faculty members, Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor Jagadish K Patnaik said the achievement was a matter of great pride for the university community and reflected the faculty members’ dedication, scholarly excellence and sustained research contributions.

He added that it also signified the growing quality, impact and global visibility of research being undertaken at the university.
