Three-time Congress MLA from Mariani, Rupjyoti Kurmi and former deputy speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and the incumbent AGP MLA of Teok, Renupoma Rajkhowa on Tuesday filed nomination papers in Jorhat.

The incumbent AGP legislator of Dergaon, Bhabendra Nath Bharali was also among the 16 candidates who filed their nomination papers.

BJP candidate for Mariani seat Ramani Tanti along with Alak Ghosh of AJP and Gopal Ghatowar of Asom Sangrami Mancha filed their papers for Mariani at the Titabar SDO (Civil) office complex.

For the Titabar seat Hemanta Kalita of BJP, Congress candidate Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah, AJP candidate Sailendra Nath Hazarika and Independent Dilip Gogoi filed their papers at the Titabar SDO (Civil) office complex.

For the Jorhat seat, AJP candidate Nirod Changkakoti filed the nomination papers at the Jorhat deputy office.

Ruby Neog of the Lok Jana Shakti and Independent candidate Kabindra Chetia Phukan filed their papers for the Teok constituency.

Ananda Chandra Das of AJP and Independent candidate Prabin Das filed their papers for the Dergaon seat.

Supporters of jailed KMSS  and Raijor Dal leader  Akhil Gogoi also filed a nomination on behalf of Gogoi as an Independent candidate for the Mariani seat on Monday and had to submit additional documents on Tuesday.
