A total of 90,000 people will receive the Covid-19 vaccine during the second phase of the vaccination drive that will begin in Tripura from February 6.

The state health department has identified 60,000 security personnel, municipal worker, cleaners, employees of the revenue department and civil defence volunteers for the second phase of the immunization drive.

The state government also declared that media persons will also get the Covid-19 vaccine as they are front line workers.

Tripura National Health Mission (NHM) director Siddhartha Jaiswal said, “We have collected the names of media persons across the state. When the health ministry will give its nod, we will upload the names of journalists who will be vaccinated.”

Jaiswal also said that there had been no reports of any adverse effect of the Covid-19 vaccine among health workers who had been immunized during the first phase.

A total of 75.04 percent health workers got the vaccine in Tripura, with South Tripura district reporting highest percentage of vaccination.

The state has received 1,66,500 vaccine shots from the central government.
