Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reviewed the ongoing work at the new Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital in North Lakhimpur.
The new medical college has been established with an estimated cost of Rs 378.2 crores.
The minister said in a tweet expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the medical college which will cater to the people of the North bank is almost ready for inauguration.
“Happy that the Rs 378.2 cr Lakhimpur Medical College is all set for inauguration! Today, along with MP @PradanBaruah& MLA Dr @ranojpegu, visited the site to review the ongoing work. Best wishes to officials for this ambitious medical project,” Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

Sarma was accompanied by Lakhimpur MP Pradhan Baruah and Dhemaji MLA Ranoj Pegu during his visit to the medical college on Monday.
The state at present has six medical colleges in Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Guwahati, Tezpur, Barpeta and Silchar.
Four more new medical colleges are coming up in North Lakhimpur, Dhubri, Diphu and Nagaon.
The state government has also proposed to establish three more medical colleges in Tinsukia, Nalbari and Kokrajhar to enhance the health sector and produce more qualified doctors in the state.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is also coming up at Changsari near Guwahati.
Union health minister Harsh Vardhan virtually inaugurated the academic programme of the first batch of MBBS students of AIIMS Guwahati during a function held at the state capital recently.
