Three doctors, including the superintendent of Dhubri Civil Hospital, were the first who took the Covid19 vaccine in the Dhubri district on Saturday after the launch of the vaccination drive.
Over 300 health workers under Dhubri Civil Hospital and Gauripur Health Centre in the district will be vaccinated simultaneously, officials said.
The vaccination drive was started in Dhubri Civil Hospital and Gauripur Health Centre simultaneously across the state on Saturday morning.
On the first day more than 100 health workers, 50 at each centre, were vaccinated while over 100 health workers will be administered the vaccine on Monday, officials said.
Dr Tapash Mazumdar, a child specialist at the Dhubri Civil Hospital, was among the first to get Covid19 vaccine shots on Saturday, followed by Dr. BK Das, the superintendent of Dhubri Civil Hospital and Dr. Harun Al Rashid, additional superintendent of Dhubri Civil Hospital.
“I came forward to lead by example as some people are still having apprehensions about the vaccine. To allay their fear and give a message to the society as well as our other medical staff that it is safe for everyone,” said Dr. Mazumdar.
Earlier, in the morning, during the inaugural ceremony at Dhubri Civil Hospital, additional deputy commissioner (health), Sarfaraj Hoque; joint director of health services, Dhubri, Dr Sayed Emdad Ullah, district vaccination in-charge Dr J Bhattacharjee, superintendent of Dhubri Civil Hospital Dr BK Das and all other medical staff members and locals were present.
