Veteran lyricist, writer and former vice president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha Idris Ali has said that music is a medium that unites all sections of people in society.
Ali said this during the launch of the first music school at Mangaldai in Assamโs Darrang district on Sunday.

โNo person in this world dislikes music. Even a newborn while crying is seen responding to the melody of his motherโs rendition,โ said Idris Ali.
Ali recollected the musical atmosphere that resided in Mangaldai under the personal initiatives of classical vocal artistes like Jyotirindra Narayan Deb popularly known as โKolikotia Raja, Ramesh Chandra Dey and Parul Dey.
โThe melody of quality music is a powerful tool in fostering peace and harmony in the society and thus help us to overcome all odds,โ said Ali.
Noted filmmaker Samarendra Narayan Deb and playwright and lyricist Hemanta Dutta also spoke about the unique cultural journey of Mangaldai United Club, which was the first-ever club in the history of Indian cinema to produce the award winning Assamese feature film like โAranyaโ (1971) and โPutala Gharโ (1976).
Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das hoped that the musical platform of the prominent club would properly groom the hidden musical talents of locals so that they could bring laurels to the state, national and international levels.
Several artistes also performed on the occasion, which had begun with the invocation of Saraswati, the Goddess of wisdom.
