City police have arrested the principal of a law college in Guwahati for allegedly sexually harassing his daughter for several months.
Ashutosh Kundu, principal of BRM Government Law College in Guwahati, was arrested on Sunday night from his residence based on a complaint filed by his daughter at Panbazar All Women Police Station.
A case (no. 185/20) under section 354/352/506/294 and 376 (Punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Panbazar All Women police station.
If convicted, the accused faces a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
Kundu’s daughter in her complaint alleged that her father had been sexually harassing her for several months.
Police on Monday produced Kundu before a local court in Guwahati, which sent him to 14-day judicially custody.
