Covid-19 has claimed four more lives in Manipur during the past 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 299.

According to data released by the state health department, the total number of positive cases detected in the state is 25,857 with 166 people testing positive for the virus on Saturday.

Due to a spike in Covid-19 cases in the state during the past one month, the Union ministry of health and family welfare had sent a three-member central team to review the grim situation in the state.

The team was to interact with the local government and devise ways to curb the chain of transmission of the novel coronavirus as well as devise ways to ensure treatment to all those infected with the virus.

Manipur chief minister, N Biren Singh also tested positive for the virus recently.

While the total number of active cases is 2,903, a total of 22,655 patients have recovered from the disease so far in the state.

The recovery rate in the state stands at 87.61 per cent at present.
