21 fresh COVID-19 cases have been detected in Mizoram.

With the detection of fresh 21 cases, the total COVID-19 count of Mizoram is now closing in on the 4000-mark.

The total cases tally in Mizoram now stands at 3934.

Of the total COVID cases recorded in the State, 2900 patients are male and 1034 are female.

Meanwhile, the active cases tally in Mizoram now stands at 220.

Fortunately, the COVID death toll in Mizoram remains static at 6, with all being reported from capital city of Aizawl.

On the other hand, as many as 3708 patients so far have recovered from the deadly virus and have been discharged from various hospitals in the State.

Meanwhile, Mizoram will be celebrating Christmas and New Year in a low-key manner with the state government extending the ongoing lockdown under the “Covid-19 No Tolerance Drive” till January 10 next year to prevent further spread of Covid-19.

Furthermore, as a precautionary measure, the Mizoram Government has banned bursting of firecrackers on Christmas and New Year to curb air pollution which could aggravate respiratory problems of COVID-19 patients.

Besides firecrackers, use of sky lanterns and other pyrotechnics including toy guns has also been banned.

The government has also banned any social or public gathering other than government function during Christmas and New Year.
