Youths will be able to share their concerns on environmental degradation and sustainable development with Amitabh Kant, chief executive officer of Niti Ayog during the 9th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit that will take place in Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
The summit, organized in the Himalayan states every year by the Integrated Mountains Initiative (IMI), will take place from December 8-14.
The participants will also be able to interact with Sanjeev Sanyal, principal economic advisor to the Union government.

The event will be held virtually this year on account of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The summit brings together youths from the Himalayan states, who share their concerns and priorities regarding the environment and sustainable development goals.
IMI is a civil society network with the mission to mainstream concerns of the Indian Himalayan region and its people in the development process of the country.
The 3rd Indian Himalayan Youth Summit that forms an integral part of the event will take place on December -8 and 9.
The youth summit is held as a pre-summit to enable the participating youths to effectively voice their aspirations in the main summit.
Makino Yuka, coordinator of the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, FAO Rome will address the participants on various aspects of sustainable development during the summit.
Four youth icons will also share their experiences before the participants.
The process of registration for the summit is currently underway.
