Manipur on Wednesday reported 214 new COVID-19 taking the state’s tally to 16,276.

Among the new cases, 208 are from the general population and six are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.

The new cases were confirmed at 23 testing facilities in the state.

Among the 208 cases from the general population, 35 are from Imphal West, 55 from Imphal East, 20 from Thoubal, 3 from Ukhrul, 2 from Noney, 8 from Chandel, 3 from Kangpokpi, 34 from Tamenglong, 10 from Churachandpur, 4 from Tengnoupal, 6 from Senapati and 24 from Bishnupur.

All are locals without any significant travel history and they have been shifted to the COVID care facilities.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Meanwhile, three more patients succumbed to COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the overall death tally to 124.

A total of 138 persons were discharged from 14 COVID care facilities in the state on Wednesday and the total numbers of active and recovered cases now respectively stand at 3,955 and 12,197.

The recovery rate of Manipur is 74.93 per cent.
