Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday termed BJP president JP Nadda’s statement on the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as “most unfortunate”.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nadda on Monday said the implementation of the CAA has been delayed due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Nadda assured that the Act would be implemented soon.
Reacting to Nadda’s statement, Rajasthan chief minister Gehlot on Wednesday tweeted: “BJP President JP Nadda ji’s statement regarding implementation of #CAA is most unfortunate.”
Gehlot reminded that there were incidents of communal tension in the country before the COVID19 pandemic over BJP’s efforts to implement CAA.

“Even before Covid-19 pandemic started, there were communal tensions in the country & the situation was very tense in a number of areas due to BJP’s insistence on implementing CAA,” Gehlot said in his tweet.

The Rajasthan chief minister alleged that as the Coronavirus situation is “still very serious”, the saffron party wants to “stoke tensions again” in the country.
“Now when corona situation is still very serious, they want to stoke tensions again,” Gehlot alleged.
The Rajasthan CM, while calling for fighting the crisis unitedly, said: “It is the time to overcome the crises the nation is facing unitedly & not to disrupt peace & communal harmony.”
