A total of four drug peddlers were arrested by police from two different places in Assam and seized heroin worth Rs 15 crore.
According to reports, in an operation, an Assam Police team intercepted a truck, which was carrying 3.45 kg of heroin in Karbi Anglong district.
The consignment of heroin was in six packets.
In connection with the seizure of the drugs, police arrested two persons under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Both the drug peddlers are from Manipur.
Earlier on September 27, the police seized a large consignment of drugs worth Rs 25 crore in Karbi Anglong district and arrested one person in connection with the case.
On September 15, Karbi Anglong Police tweeted: “In another drive against drugs Karbi Anglong police recovered 1 kg 40 grams of heroin and apprehended 3 drug peddlers.”
In another similar incident, a team of police after raiding a house seized 88 containers with 1 mg of suspected heroin and items which were stolen from temples and Jagiroad Paper Mill in Morigaon district.
A couple was also arrested by the police under sections of the Indian Penal Code and NDPS Act.
