Eighteen more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Tuesday, taking the state’s death toll to 778.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Tuesday said: “Very sad and anguished to inform that 18 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”
According to the data shared by the health minister, 2 patients each died of the infection from Dibrugarh, Chirang , Sivasagar and Golaghat districts while 3 of the deceased are from Kamrup Metro.
One each patient, who died of the infection, has been reported from Nagaon, Barpeta, Jorhat, Cachar, Sonitpur, Dhubri and Bongaigaon districts.
The deceased have been identified as Deben Rajkonwar (65), Ratan Baruah (67) of Dibrugarh; Rani Saikia Bordoloi (52), Sandeep Das (47) and Ranjit Kr Das (72) of Kamrup Metro; Narendra Nath Saikia (61) of Nagaon;
The other deceased have been identified as Amina Parbin (1 year-6 months) of Barpeta; Debendra Mushahary (65) and Samila Basumatary (38) of Chirang and Ritamoni Hazarika (52) of Jorhat.
Hemkanta Borah (58) and Monika Bhumij (17) of Golaghat; Tapan Nath (52) of Cachar; Binod Ch Bhuyan (58) of Sonitpur; Siddique Hussain (72) of Dhubri; Brozen Baruah (58) and Kumud Ch Das (57) of Sivasagar, and Binod Singha (45) of Bongaigaon also died of the disease on Tuesday.
“My condolences to all the famiUes. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” health minister Sarma said.
