Even as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Tripura, people in Agartala were seen flouting the safety norm and protocols as most of them did not follow the social distancing norms or wear a mask.
The Tripura government has decided to impose total lockdown in the state from Monday till July 30 to prevent the spread of the infection.
Even though the government announced that shops of essential commodities would remain partially open during the 72-hour lockdown period, people, however, thronged into the markets flouting the social distancing norms.
Huge crowds were witnessed at Maharaj Ganj Bazar, Lake Chowmuhani Bazar, Battala Bazar and several other markets of the capital city.
The overcrowded lane hardly had any space to walk.
A number of people even questioned the government’s preparedness to handle such an emergency situation.
