Now robots will be giving services at COVID care centres in Tripura.
Dr Harjit Nath, one of the youngest faculty members at Tripura Central University, has donated a robot in a COVID care centre in Tripura to minimize human contact for doctors and other health staffs.
The robot was developed by him which is a low-cost robot (WARBOT) from scrap materials provide basic services such as distribute food and medicines to coronavirus patients admitted in the hospital.

The TU professor has donated the Warbot to Tripura Medical College and finally, it has been put in service in Hapania COVID Care Centre of Agartala.
Dr Harjeet Nath said, “I made just one set and donated it to COVID Care Centre of Hapania. I spent around Rs 25,000 in making it.”
Describing the robot Dr Nath said, “It works on 12v lead acid rechargeable batteries and can carry a lot of around 15 kgs easily.”
“One full charge will make it operate for around 30minutes or more,” he added.
“It’s a robot. I named it COVID19WARBOT, four-wheeled, controlled by used a transmitter and receiver,” he added.

“Like a joystick. So that even a kid can operate,” he said.
This is not his first attempt.
Before this Dr Nath also made some robots.
“I have already various other technologies developed. One was a Suitcase Water Purifier developed for military and rescue/natural calamities,” he said.
“The purifier can work anywhere and can give pure water instantly using ank kind of feed water. It’s solar operated. I have filed a patent for it in 2019,” he added.
“Third is a touchless handwashing system with integrated water treatment facility and water reuse facility,” he also said.
“It was even praised by MHRD minister few days back. Currently working on many new innovations which will affect the society at a large,” he further said.
In 2018, Dr Harjeet Nath was awarded the Young Scientist Award by Dept of Science and Technology, Govt of India (DST-ITR AWARD).
Recently he was awarded as the most innovative faculty of the year 2020 during a conference in Delhi in collaboration with Campbell University, USA.
Dr Nath is from Dept of Chemical and Polymer Engineering of Tripura Central University.
He was the founding faculty member of this department and first head of the department.
